Airsoft Gun Mags Details
These magazines typically connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Details About Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are typically pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
About High Capacity LMG Magazines
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam.
Info on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own customized design depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the magazines typically include builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Info on Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Handguns mags differ by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the mag. The mag is placed into the pistol’s grip like the basic gun design. Handgun mags are frequently interchangeable between similar models of the same airsoft weapon maker, however are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically developed for that function. Learning about the specific styles of airsoft sidearms gives you a better understanding of how their magazines function. Many airsoft handgun magazines keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
