Airsoft Weapon Mags
These mags normally attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Details
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally packed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
About Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s mag well.
About High Capacity LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use very large capacity magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Airsoft SMG Mags Details
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and functional between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the mags typically feature builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
When compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less flexible. Handguns mags differ by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the magazine. The mag is placed into the handgun’s grip like the basic firearm style. Pistol mags are frequently interchangeable in between similar models of the exact same airsoft weapon maker, but are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are particularly created for that function. Understanding the specific types of airsoft handguns gives you more insight to how their magazines work. Many airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
