Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally stored in the weapon’s mag. These magazines generally connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Info
Airsoft gun magazines can be found in a couple of styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These kinds usually involve AEG magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would keep in shells, which is usually around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft gamers the most storage space with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One point to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields typically prohibit their use during games because of players shooting an excessive amount of ammunition to spray and pray during gameplay.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often stash the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
About Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Details
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and usable between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Information on Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol mags are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft pistol mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
