Information About Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically stored in the gun’s magazine. These magazines generally attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
About Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would hold, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Details About How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically stash the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are relegated to the type of AEG rifle plus most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Understand how airsoft weapons function. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well. For example M4 design AEG mags would normally operate in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by gun design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are built in a similar way. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the mags often include builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons accumulate gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and help the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft handgun magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft handgun magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
