Information About Airsoft Gun Magazines
These mags generally attach to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often hold the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are usually separated by gun model and functional in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines Info
Airsoft handgun magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. The majority of airsoft handgun mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
