“Picture-in-Picture” mode
Picture-in-Picture” mode allows the user to add an extra frame to the display. Sized only 1/10 of the total display’s, the frame shows enlarged image of the target and reticle. This allows the user to see both: enlarged image of the aiming area and the full field of view.
Stream Vision App.
Using the free, high-tech, iOS and Android compatible Stream Vision app, the Digisight Ultra connects via Wi-Fi to allow transfer of images and video to smartphones and other wireless devices in real time, stream footage to YouTube and other online video platforms (depending on model), and even use your personal device as a wireless remote control.
Powerful long-range IR Illuminator
The Digisight Ultra riflescopes are supplied with a detachable high power IR illuminators (850 nm and 940 nm respectively). The long-range 850 nm IR provides effective observation of remote objects; the 940 nm model operates in the invisible range. Three adjustable IR power levels help choose preferred effective range and illumination level of an object observed.
Accurate Zoom Zeroing
The user can zero the riflescope either at the basic magnification or at a zoom, with the click value decreasing as the zoom value increases. At the maximum magnification reticle step is less than 0.1 MOA. Aiming point is stable in the entire range of magnifications.

Info About Rifle Scopes

Rifle scopes allow you to precisely align a rifle at various targets by aligning your eye with the target at range. They accomplish this through magnifying the target using a set of lenses within the scope. The scope’s alignment can be adapted to take into account varied environmental elements like wind and elevation to account for bullet drop.

The scope’s function is to help the shooter understand precisely where the bullet will hit based on the sight picture you are viewing with the scope as you align the scope’s crosshair or reticle with the intended target. A lot of modern rifle optics have about eleven parts which are located inside and outside of the optic. These optic pieces consist of the rifle scope’s body, lenses, windage and elevation turrets, focus rings, and other parts. Learn about the eleven parts of glass.

About Rifle Glass Types

Rifle scopes can be either “first focal plane” or “second focal plane” style of scopes. The form of focal plane a scope has determines where the reticle or crosshair lies in relation to the optic’s zoom. It simply indicates the reticle is situated behind or ahead of the magnifying lens of the scope. Picking the most desired kind of rifle glass depends upon what variety of shooting or hunting you intend on undertaking.

First Focal Plane Scope Details

Focal plane scopes (FFP) include the reticle in front of the zoom lens. These kinds of scopes are useful for:

  • Quick acquisition, long distance kinds of shooting
  • Shooting scenarios where estimations are minor
  • Experienced shooters who understand their target “hold over” plus “lead” equations for their rifles
  • Shooters who don’t mind the reticle is bigger and occupies more visual sight space than a SFP reticle

Second Focal Plane Scope Facts

Second focal plane glass (SFP) feature the reticle to the rear of the zoom lens. This triggers the reticle to remain at the exact same scale in relation to the quantity of magnification being used. The outcome is that the reticle dimensions adjust based on the zoom used to shoot over greater distances considering the reticle measurements present distinct increments which can vary with the magnification. In the FFP example with the SFP optic, the 5x “zoom” 100 yard tick reticle measurement would be 1/5th of the non “zoom” tick. These varieties of glass are handy for:

  • Long distance forms of shooting where shooters have increased time to make ballistic computations
  • Shooting where most shots happen within much shorter ranges and distances
  • Shooters who select a clearer optic sight picture with less room taken up by the bigger FFP reticle

Glass Zoom

The measure of scope magnification you need on your glass depends on the form of shooting you desire to do. Virtually every type of rifle glass gives some degree of magnification. The level of zoom a scope gives is determined by the dimension, density, and curvatures of the lens glass inside of the rifle optic. The magnifying level of the scope is the “power” of the scope. This signifies what the shooter is observing through the scope is magnified times the power element of what can usually be seen by human eyes.

Info About Fixed Single Power Lens Scopes

A single power rifle scope comes with a magnification number designator like 4×32. This suggests the zoom power of the scope is 4x power and the objective lens is 32mm. The zoom of this type of optic can not fluctuate considering that it is set from the factory.

Adjustable Power Lens Glass

Variable power rifle scopes use variable power levels. The power adjustment is performed by making use of the power ring part of the scope near the rear of the scope by the eye bell.

Power Levels and Range Correlations

Here are some recommended scope power levels and the distances where they may be efficiently used. Highly magnified optics will not be as efficient as lower magnification rifle scope glass due to the fact that too much zoom can be a bad thing. The exact same concept goes for extended ranges where the shooter needs sufficient power to see where to best aim the rifle at the target.

Lens Finishing for Glass

All modern rifle scope and optic lenses are covered in special coatings. There are various types and qualities of glass lens finishings. When looking at luxury rifle targeting systems, Lens coating can be an important aspect of defining the capability of the rifle. The lenses are one of the most vital pieces of the glass considering they are what your eye sees through while sighting a rifle in on the target. The finishing on the lenses shields the lens surface area as well as improves anti glare from excess daylight and color perception.

HD Versus ED Lenses

Some scope makers also use “HD” or high-definition lens coatings which use different procedures, chemicals, polarizations, and elements to draw out a wide range of colors and viewable definition through the lens. Some scope makers use “HD” to refer to “ED” implying extra-low dispersion glass.

Single Finish Versus Multi-Coating

Different optic lenses can also have various coverings used to them. All lenses usually have at least some type of treatment or covering used to them before they are used in a rifle scope or optic.

This lens treatment can offer protection to the lens from scratches while decreasing glare and other less beneficial things experienced in the shooting environment while sighting in with the scope. The quality of a single layered lens depends on the scope maker and how much you paid for it.

Some scope makers similarly make it a point to specify if their optic lenses are covered or “multi” coated. Being “better” depends on the producer’s lens treatment technology and the quality of products used in developing the rifle scope.

Hydrophobic Covering for Scopes

Water on a lens doesn’t help with preserving a clear sight picture through a scope at all. Many top of the line and high-end optic makers will coat their lenses with a hydrophobic or hydrophilic finish.

Options for Mounting Rifle Optics on Long Guns

Installing options for scopes come in a couple of options. There are the standard scope rings which are individually mounted to the optic and one-piece mounts which cradle the scope. These different kinds of mounts also generally are made in quick release variations which use manual levers which permit rifle shooters to quickly install and remove the scopes.

Hex Key Scope Rings

Standard, clamp design mounting scope rings use hex head screws to mount to the flattop design Picatinny scope installation rails on rifles. These types of scope mounts use a couple of different rings to support the optic, and are made from 7075 T6 billet aluminum which are created for long distance accuracy shooting. This type of scope mount is wonderful for rifles which require a resilient, sound mount which will not move no matter how much the scope is moved or abused.

Glass Mounting Solutions with Quick-Release Cantilever Rings

These types of quick-release rifle scope mounts can be used to rapidly remove a scope from a rifle and reattach it to a different rifle. Multiple scopes can also be switched out if they all use a complementary style mount. The quick detach mount style is CNC machined from anodized 6061 T6 aluminum and the mounting levers attach nicely to a flat top type Picatinny rail. This permits the scope to be sighted in while on the rifle, taken off of the rifle, and remounted back on the rifle while preserving precision. These types of mounts are useful and practical for shooting platforms which are shipped a lot, to take off the optic from the rifle for protection, or for optics which are chosen for use in between a number of rifles. An example of this mount style is the 30mm mount from Vortex Optics. It normally costs around $250 USD

Sealing and Gas Purging for Glass Tubes

Moisture inside your rifle optic can destroy a day of shooting and your highly-priced optic by resulting in fogging and developing residue within the scope’s tube. A lot of optics protect against moisture from entering the scope tube with a series of sealing O-rings which are water resistant. Normally, these water-resistant scopes can be submerged under 20 or 30 feet of water before the water pressure can push moisture past the O-rings. This should be sufficient moisture avoidance for conventional use rifles for hunting and sporting purposes, unless you plan on taking your rifle aboard watercrafts and are worried about the optic still performing if it is submerged in water and you can still salvage the firearm.

Info on Optic Tube Gas Purging

Another component of avoiding the accumulation of moisture within the rifle optic tube is filling the tube with a gas like nitrogen. Considering that this space is already occupied by the gas, the glass is less influenced by temperature level alterations and pressure differences from the outside environment which could possibly permit water vapor to leak in around the seals to fill the void which would otherwise exist. These are good qualities of a good rifle scope to look for.
