Precsion Windage & Elevation Adjustments w/ Locking & Zero Stop Turret Kit
Each TORIC riflescope comes with a High Profile Turret Kit. The kit allows you to replace the exisiting standard medium turret, with the high profile turret providing the long range shooter with the following benefits:
“Locking Turret Feature – To provide the shooter with the confidence that the elevation turret cannot be moved even in the roughest of conditions
Simply lift the high profile elevation turret up to disengage the lock. Turn the elevation knob in the desired direction. Push turret back down to return to the locked position.
“Zero Stop provides the shooter with the assurance that he will not go past his zero.
After sighting in your rifle, simply insert the Turret Kit and set the zero stop module in place.
Once assembled, you now have a positive repeatable stopping point at your chosen zero point. Then, no matter how many elevation adjustments you make, turning the elevation knob down to the zero stop setting returns you to your original zero.
No counting clicks or need for visual reference. In poor or low-lighting conditions, you can return to your original zero stop simply by feel.
TORIC Locking Side Focus:
“Corrects for parallax and will help in your desire to be a more accurate long range shooter.
Locking Side Focus adjustment dials out parallax from 15 yards to Infinity. By getting rid of parallax, you’re assured that your point of impact is going to be exactly where you intend it to be because your focused on the same optical plane as the reticle
Main benefits of the TORIC Locking Side Focus:
Easy to reach, and use while in the shooting position
Don’t have to lift your head off the stock to use
The side focus reference markings are highly visible and easy to read
The side focus feature helps shooters who are not consistent in their cheek weld method or if the eye is in a less than ideal alignment with the scope
The shallow depth of focus can aid in determing mirage and reading wind direction
Large Ocular Lens with 4” of Constant Eye Relief
“Benefits:
“Keeps your cheek weld consistant throughout the entire magnification range for improved accuracy
4” of eye relief keeps you safe from getting hit under heavy magnum recoil or shooting at sharp angels.
“Easier for the shooter to locate the target
Accurate Bullet Drop Compensation
“The Glass-etched TEKOA Impact BDC reticle features:.
The strategically placed MOA BDC dots
Pointed post bracketing system provide bullet drop compensation with a definitive aiming point that does not obscure the target, even at long range.
The horizontal pointed posts allow you to bracket the target, making it easier to hold slightly higher or lower on the target.
The reticle is set up for both standard (2,800 fps) and magnum cartridge (3,000 fps) trajectory in approximate 100 yard increments.
Simply sight-in a standard cartridge at 100 yards and a magnum cartridge at 200 yards.
Or, to customize the reticle to your exact load, calculate the exact distance each dot represents by entering your cartridge info into the IMPACT Ballistic Program on the TRACT Optics website.

Info Rifle Optics

Rifle scopes allow you to specifically align a rifle at different targets by aligning your eye with the target over a distance. They do this through zoom by making use of a series of lenses inside the scope. The scope’s alignment can be adapted to take into account various natural elements like wind speed and elevation to make up for bullet drop.

The scope’s purpose is to help the shooter understand precisely where the bullet will land based on the sight picture you are seeing using the scope as you align the scope’s crosshair or reticle with the target. The majority of modern-day rifle optics have about eleven parts which are arranged within and externally on the scope. These scope parts consist of the rifle scope’s body, lenses, modification dials or turrets, objective focus rings, and other components. See all eleven parts of a scope.

Rifle Optic Styles

Rifle scopes can be either “first focal plane” or “second focal plane” type of scopes. The form of focal plane an optic has decides where the reticle or crosshair is located in relation to the scopes magnification. It literally suggests the reticle is situated behind or before the magnification lens of the scope. Deciding on the most beneficial form of rifle glass depends on what sort of shooting or hunting you plan on doing.

First Focal Plane Optic Facts

Focal plane scopes (FFP) feature the reticle in front of the zoom lens. These types of scopes are useful for:

  • Quick acquisition, long distance types of shooting
  • Shooting scenarios where calculations are minor
  • Experienced shooters who recognize their target “hold over” as well as “lead” ratios for their firearm
  • Shooters who don’t mind the reticle is enlarged and occupies more visual eyesight room than a SFP reticle

Second Focal Plane Scopes

Second focal plane optics (SFP) feature the reticle to the rear of the magnification lens. In the FFP example with the SFP scope, the 5x “zoom” 100 yard tick would be 1/5th of the non “zoom” tick.

  • Far away types of shooting where shooters have more time to make ballistic calculations
  • Shooting where most of the shots happen within much shorter ranges and spaces
  • Shooters who want a clearer optic sight picture without space taken up by the bigger FFP reticle

Rifle Optic Magnification

The quantity of magnification a scope offers is figured out by the diameter, density, and curvatures of the lenses inside of the rifle scope. The magnification of the scope is the “power” of the scope.

About Single Power Lens Rifle Glass

A single power rifle optic or scope uses a zoom number designator like 4×32. This means the zoom power of the scope is 4x power and the objective lens is 32mm. The magnification of this kind of optic can not adjust given that it is a set power scope.

Info on Variable Power Lens Rifle Scopes

Variable power rifle scopes have adjustable power. It will list the zoom degree in a configuration such as 2-10×32. These numbers imply the magnification of the scope could be adjusted in between 2x and 10x power. This additionally incorporates the powers in-between 2 and 10. The power adaptation is achieved using the power ring part of the scope near the back of the scope by the eye bell piece.

Power Levels and Range Correlations

Here are some suggested scope power settings and the ranges where they can be efficiently used. Consider that high power glass will not be as effective as lower magnification level scopes due to the fact that excessive zoom can be a detractor. The exact same idea goes for longer ranges where the shooter needs to have enough power to see precisely where to properly aim the rifle.

Glass Lens Coating

All modern rifle scope lenses are coated. Lens covering can be a crucial element of a shooting platform when looking into high end rifle optics and scope systems.

HD Versus ED Lens Coatings

Some scope brands likewise use “HD” or high-definition lens finishings which use various processes, elements, polarizations, and chemicals to draw out separate colors and viewable definition through the lens. Some scope makers use “HD” to refer to “ED” to signify the lens has extra-low dispersion glass.

Info on Single Finishing Versus Multi-Coating

Various optic lenses can also have different coatings applied to them. All lenses typically have at least some kind of treatment or covering applied to them before they are used in a rifle scope or optic. This is since the lens isn’t simply a raw piece of glass. It is part of the carefully tuned optic. It must have a finishing applied to it so that the lens will be efficiently functional in many types of environments, degrees of sunlight (full VS shaded), and other shooting conditions.

Single covered lenses have a treatment applied to them which is typically a protective and enhancing multi-purpose treatment. This lens treatment can preserve the lens from scratches while lowering glare and other less helpful things experienced in the shooting environment while sighting in with the scope. The quality of a single layered lens depends on the scope developer and the amount you spent for it. Both the make and cost are signs of the lens quality.

Some scope manufacturers also make it a point to define if their optic lenses are coated or “multi” covered. This implies the lens has numerous treatments applied to the surfaces. If a lens receives several treatments, it can show that a manufacturer is taking several actions to combat various environmental elements like an anti-glare coating, a scratch resistant anti-abrasion coating, followed by a hydrophilic coating. This also doesn’t necessarily suggest the multi-coated lens will perform much better than a single covered lens. Being “better” depends upon the maker’s lens treatment innovation and the quality of products used in building the rifle scope.

Anti-water Optic Lens Covering

Water on a lens doesn’t help with keeping a clear sight picture through a scope at all. Lots of top of the line and high-end scope companies will coat their lenses with a hydrophobic or hydrophilic coating which is water repellent.

Glass Installing Alternatives

Installing approaches for scopes come in a couple of options. There are the basic scope rings which are separately installed to the optic and one-piece mounts which cradle the scope. These various kinds of mounts also generally can be found in quick release versions which use toss levers which allow rifle shooters to quickly mount and remove the optics.

Hex Key Rifle Glass Rings

Basic, clamp-on style mounting optic rings use hex head screws to fix to the flattop style Picatinny scope mount rails on the tops of rifles. These types of scope mounts use a pair of individual rings to support the scope, and are usually constructed from 7075 T6 billet aluminum which are made for far away precision shooting. This form of scope mount is good for rifle systems which require a durable, unfailing mount which will not move no matter how much the scope is moved or abuse the rifle takes. These are the style of mounts you should get for a faithful scope system on a long distance hunting or competition rifle that will rarely need to be changed or recalibrated. Blue 242 Loctite threadlocker can also be used on the screws to prevent the hex screw threads from wiggling out after they are installed tightly in place. An example of these rings are the 30mm style made by the Vortex Optics company. The set typically costs around $200 USD

Quick-Release Cantilever Scope Ring Mounts

These types of quick-release rifle scope mounts can be used to quickly remove a scope and attach it to a different rifle. Numerous scopes can even be swapped out if they all use a similar style mount. These types of mounts come in handy for rifles which are transported a lot, to remove the optic from the rifle for protection, or for optics which are used in between numerous rifles or are situationally focused.

Glass Tube Sealing and Gas Purging

Moisture inside your rifle optic can mess up a day of shooting and your pricey optic by bringing about fogging and developing residue inside of the scope tube. Most scopes avoid wetness from entering the scope tube with a system of sealing O-rings which are waterproof.

Optic Gas Purging

Another component of preventing the accumulation of moisture within the rifle optic tube is filling the tube with a gas like nitrogen. Because this space is currently occupied by the gas, the scope is less altered by condition alterations and pressure differences from the outside environment which might potentially enable water vapor to leak in around the seals to fill the vacuum which would otherwise exist. These are good qualities of a good rifle scope to look for.
