Airsoft Gun Magazines
These mags generally attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Information on How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Information Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
High-Cap LMG Mag Info
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use high-cap drum magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Mags Information
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun model and usable in between various submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the magazines typically feature builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. The majority of airsoft handgun mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
