About Airsoft
Airsoft is a shooting sport where participants use airsoft weapons to shoot 6mm plastic BBs. Airsoft groups can vary in size from a couple of game players to numerous teams, fire teams, and separate forces based on the scale of the playing field and game player turnout.
Primary airsoft weapons include the AK47 Kalashnikov, Heckler and Koch H&K G36, Colt M4 Carbine style assault rifles which are replicated in the form of automatic electric (AEG) airsoft weapons. Sidearms normally include Beretta M9, 1911, or Glock pistols which are carried as airsoft green gas or CO2 airsoft pistol versions.
Airsoft participants generally use camouflage patterns throughout games along with headgear like tactical vests and tactical helmets configured with pouches. Each opposing airsoft group typically uses a specific pattern to help recognize unfriendly and friendly forces.
The targets airsoft weapons are shot at can differ depending on airsoft game type. The majority of the targets engaged with airsoft guns are other participants during force-on-force battles.
There are many types of airsoft games. The types of airsoft games are pretty much limitless as participants develop more kinds all of the time.
What is Milsim
Military simulation airsoft, or milsim, is often a large component of airsoft. Milsim is the art of replicating a tactical setting. Often this incorporates a command element, transports, and semi-realistic backdrops with mock battleground firecrackers or effects. Much of the airsoft uniforms, guns, and missions are replications of realistic guns, fatigues, and real-world missions out of historical events. The result of a well planned military simulation airsoft event produces participants looking really military-esque and outfitted like military troops.
Milsim airsoft guns are based around the era and feature preferred weapons during the time of the historical objective. For example, the M16A1 rifle has the timeless appearance of a Vietnam period assault rifle, while other airsoft rifles like the Heckler & Koch HK416 and IWI TAVOR TAR-21 are much more present day. In stringent milsim gameplay, the weapons carried by players should follow the era, use related add-ons, and be correctly modded.
Milsim uniforms can be different based on the events and be based around the historical patterns of the time. The military gear used usually needs to match the uniform and be from the corresponding age. A modern-day U.S. Navy Seal milsim uniform and loadout could combine a Navy Working Uniform (NWU) camouflage pattern with a London Bridge Trading LBT-6094 Plate Carrier Gen II tac vest and a ballistic helmet like the Ops-Core FAST SF Super High Cut Helmet. Imitation tactical gear and ballistic armor and helmets are often used instead of the real gear. This helps to save money because the real gear can cost thousands of dollars and the replica gear can be lighter to run around with on the battlefield.
The objectives carried out during milsim operations consist of historic reenactments and objectives set as historical fiction. Have you ever wanted to storm the beaches of Normandy, defend the 38th Parallel, or fight the drug lords of Mogadishu during Blackhawk Down? Milsim blended with airsoft is one manner in which you can actively take part and experience military history.
