About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The Tacprogear General Purpose Pouch, Black, Small is a tactical pouch. Most tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop style accessories. MOLLE pouches have just recently become popular in the last few years due to tactical innovations and inventions. They are the top choice for securing military style pouches to tactical gear, tactical vests, range bags, and other types of field gear. MOLLE straps offer a flexible way for users to select the mounting location and position of the pouch and install them anywhere on gear where there is a MOLLE accessory panel location. The only restriction becomes which pouches to manage and where to position them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and identifies the pouches, panels, and straps which are adopted in the MOLLE equipment system. Here are the 3 parts of the mounting system: MOLLE straps, panels, and pouches. Mounting tactical pouches is easy and quick. All operators have to do is thread the straps and snap the buttons to set them in place. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how the gear system works, let’s have a look at a few of the best MOLLE pouches you can attach to your airsoft equipment beginning with airsoft gun mag pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches come in all colors and camo patterns. Typical pouch colors include: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Common pouch camouflage patterns consist of: woodland, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Have a look at the example swatches in the product description for what they appear like:

Kinds Of Tacprogear MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are usually called ‘basic’ pouches or just ‘mag pouches’ due to the fact that they are pretty standard in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for extra security that is usually fastened with Velcro. In addition to being available from many tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are long lasting and one of the most inexpensive methods to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches are comparable to the standard mag pouches with a few adjustments. As the tactical pouch name indicates, this pouch design eliminates the flap leaving an open top to place and take out magazines.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the most recent and most sophisticated kind of tactical mag pouches. The retention systems are developed into the magazine pocket so that it carries the magazine securely under pressure. In order to make mag accessibility easier and magazine swaps faster than ever before, this style of tactical pouch makes use of MOLLE attachments so it can be mounted at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest. The pouch parts are typically made from ABS components.
The Tacprogear brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use varying kinds of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cords or rubberized bungee bands (depending upon maker). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and using a hard yank up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps securely hold the magazines so you do not need to worry about losing the mag during fast movements, crawling, climbing over things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
Tacprogear MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Pistol Magazine Pouches
Pistol magazine pouches come in related styles to the rifle pouches with standard flip top, open top, and open top with retention designs of tactical pouches. The handgun magazine pouches which are available in the basic design have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a couple of basic pistol pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines very well with this resilient Velcro flip top style.
The open top and open top with retention pistol pouches are the most frequently found versions of pistol pouches. A number of the same companies that make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the same style. This includes companies like Blue Force Gear, and High Speed Gear. Both of their rifle mag pouch designs are exceptional quality, usable, and are duplicated by airsoft pouch companies.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired design of pouch including both a rifle and handgun magazine. The cost of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) cost savings over purchasing all six separately (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine retrieval pouches) create a space for you to throw empty magazines and other gear into rapidly. Some dump pouches even have drawstring closure tops for extra security while moving with a full pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK represents individual first aid kit and includes the equipment airsoft players need when they need to patch up a gash or injury on the field. A first aid pack needs to contain the following items: medical tape or cloth tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze bandages, several sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, trauma shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches make a place for carrying a Leatherman, folded maps, pens, and other field items. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which don’t go anywhere else usually. You can carry things like extra airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they don’t have their own unique pouch), and other gear you may need on the airsoft field or in a tactical scenario.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Lots of airsoft organizations employ radios and communications equipment in the field. Adopting a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications gear while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and radio handsets like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
