Info About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually housed in the weapon’s mag. These mags typically connect to the airsoft gun similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
About How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. CO2, GBB, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically hold the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Information
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well.
About High-Cap LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and usable between different submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the mags often feature builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and allow the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
About Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
