Airsoft Gun Magazines
These mags normally connect to the airsoft weapon the same as the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags are available in several different types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These styles frequently apply to AEG mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would keep in live ammo, which is generally about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft gamers the most storage with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. Something to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields usually regulate their use during games because they allow players using a lot of ammo to spray-and-pray throughout games.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Details About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high-cap drum magazines. They can store up to thousands of BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Info
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and functional between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines often come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
About Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. The majority of airsoft pistol mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
