About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The Maxpedition MXNTTPHSCH-BRK Entity Utility Pouch Small, Charcoal is a tactical pouch. Many tactical pouches attach with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop design attachments. MOLLE pouches have recently ended up being popular in the last several years due to tactical developments and inventions. They are the top choice for securing military style pouches to tactical gear, tactical vests, range bags, and other kinds of field gear. MOLLE straps offer a unique way for users to pick the mounting area and position of the pouch and install them anywhere on gear where there is a MOLLE accessory panel location. The only limitation becomes which pouches to adopt and where to place them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE is an acronym for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and identifies the pouches, panels, and straps which are managed in the MOLLE management system. Here are the three parts of the mounting system: MOLLE straps, panels, and pouches. Installing tactical pouches is simple and quick. Merely thread the straps and snap the buttons to secure them in place. Now that we know what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out a few of the best MOLLE pouches you can include in your airsoft equipment starting with airsoft weapon mag pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches can be found in all colors and camo patterns. Common pouch colors include: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Common pouch camouflage patterns include: woodland, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Take a look at the example swatches below for what they appear like:

Types of Maxpedition MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are also called ‘basic’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ since they are pretty basic in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for extra security that is usually attached with Velcro. In addition to being available from lots of tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, basic rifle magazine pouches are long lasting and one of the most budget friendly methods to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouch types resemble the standard mag pouches with a few adjustments. As the tactical pouch name implies, this pouch design gets rid of the flap leaving an open top to place and take out magazines. This enables silent access and increased speed while reloading guns or accessing pouches. These mag pouches can be found in single or triple magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the most recent and most sophisticated type of tactical mag pouches. In order to make mag access simpler and mag reloads faster than ever before, this design of tactical pouch makes use of MOLLE connections so it can be installed at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest.
The Maxpedition brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag style use differing types of retention to grip the magazines and offer security including bungee cords or rubberized stress bands (depending on manufacturer). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and using a hard yank up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the stress straps firmly hold the magazines so you don’t have to be concerned about losing the mag during fast motions, crawling, climbing over things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
Maxpedition MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Handgun Magazine Pouches
Pistol magazine pouches are available in similar designs to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which come in the standard style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes several basic pistol pouches which secure airsoft gun magazines effectively with this durable Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention handgun pouches are the most typically found versions of pistol pouches. Many of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching pistol magazine pouches in the exact same style.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired design of pouch featuring both a rifle and handgun magazine. Two is usually far better than one. This pouch proves this to be true because it saves you money from having to purchase two separate pouches. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equates to about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over purchasing all six individually (3x rifle and 3x handgun magazines). Never purchase pouches individually which you can get them together.
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine recovery pouches) create an area for you to dump empty mags and other gear into rapidly. Some dump pouches even have drawstring closure tops for additional security while on the run with a full pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft equipment loadout. IFAK is an acronym meaning individual first aid kit and includes the medical gear airsoft players need when they need to patch up a cut or injury on the field. An emergency treatment kit needs to contain the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze bandages, a number of sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create space for carrying a Leatherman, folded maps, pens, and other field supplies. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else normally. Think extra airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own special pouch), and other gear you might require on the airsoft field or tactical scenario.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Lots of airsoft units manage communications and radios devices in the field. Adopting a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications gear while moving. These small radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and radio handsets like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
