About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The High Speed Gear Mini Radio MOLLE Utility Pouch, Compact Pouch with Zipper is a tactical pouch. Many tactical pouches attach with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop style accessories. MOLLE pouches have just recently become popular in the last several years due to tactical innovations and inventions. They are the top option for securing military design pouches to tactical equipment, tactical vests, deployment bags, and other types of field gear. MOLLE straps offer a flexible method for users to choose the mounting location and position of the pouch and mount them anywhere on equipment where there is a MOLLE attachment panel area. The only constraint becomes which pouches to use and where to position them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and describes the pouches, panels, and straps which are managed in the MOLLE gear system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s look at some of the best MOLLE pouches you can add to your airsoft gear beginning with airsoft weapon magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches are available in all colors and camo patterns. Common pouch colors consist of: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Typical pouch camouflage patterns consist of: forest, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Take a look at the example swatches below for what they appear like:

Kinds Of High Speed Gear MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are also called ‘standard’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ due to the fact that they are quite basic in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is normally fastened with Velcro. In addition to being available from many tactical gear companies in the airsoft industry, basic rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most cost effective ways to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches resemble the basic mag pouches with a couple of adjustments. As the tactical pouch name indicates, this pouch style gets rid of the flap leaving an open top to put in and take out magazines. This enables quiet access and increased speed while reloading weapons or accessing pouches. These mag pouches can be available in triple or single magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the latest and most innovative type of tactical mag pouches. In order to make mag accessibility easier and reloads faster than ever, this design of tactical pouch utilizes MOLLE straps so it can be installed at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest.
The High Speed Gear brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag style use differing types of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cables or rubberized tension bands (depending on maker). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and using a hard pull up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the bungee straps safely hold the magazines so you do not have to worry about losing the mag during fast motions, crawling, climbing, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
High Speed Gear MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Pistol Magazine Pouches
Pistol magazine pouches can be found in related designs to the rifle pouches with standard flip top, open top, and open top with retention designs of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which are available in the basic design have a Velcro flap. Condor makes several basic handgun pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines effectively with this durable Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention pistol pouches are the most frequently found variations of pistol pouches. Many of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the same design.
Combination Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired design of pouch featuring both a rifle and pistol magazine. The cost of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equates to about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over buying all six separately (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a mag recovery pouches) create a space for you to throw empty magazines and other things into quickly in the field. These tactical pouches are typically carried on tactical belts in a rolled up position and secured by a snap or strap. The pouch can be rapidly unrolled to increase in size and hold empty mags after reloads, extra airsoft BBs/shells, and other equipment while on the airsoft field. Some dump pouches even have drawstring tops for added security while moving with a full pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK is an acronym meaning individual first aid kit and contains the medical gear airsoft players require when they need to patch up a gash or wound on the field. An emergency treatment pack needs to include the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze, a number of sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, trauma shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches make room for holding multitools, folded maps, pens, and other field supplies. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else generally. Think of things like spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they don’t have their own separate pouch), and other equipment you might need on the airsoft field or tactical scenario.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Attachments
Lots of airsoft organizations talk on communications and radios equipment in the field. Applying a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications gear while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and family band radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 models and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
