Information About Airsoft Gun Magazines

Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are normally held in the gun’s mag. These magazines usually attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The kinds of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.

About Airsoft Gun Mag Types

Airsoft gun mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.

Airsoft Mag Functionality Information

Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are generally pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.

Airsoft Rifle Mags

Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The mags are relegated to the type of AEG rifle plus all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Understand how airsoft weapons function. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s magazine insertion area. For instance M4 style AEG magazines would usually work in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ gun with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can hold in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.

Airsoft SMG Magazines

Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and functional in between various submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to operate so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.

Airsoft Handgun Magazines Information

Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Pistols mags vary by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the mag. The mag is inserted into the pistol’s grip like the basic gun style. Pistol magazines are typically interchangeable in between comparable models of the same airsoft gun maker, however are frequently not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly created for that purpose. Understanding the specific types of airsoft sidearms can give you more insight to how their magazines function. The majority of airsoft handgun mags keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
