About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The Fox Outdoor First Responder Pouch – Large Black is a tactical pouch. Many tactical pouches attach with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop design attachments. MOLLE pouches have just recently become popular in the last few years due to tactical innovations and inventions. They are the top choice for securing military design pouches to military gear, tactical vests, range bags, and other kinds of field gear. MOLLE straps offer a unique method for users to select the mounting place and position of the pouch and install them anywhere on gear where there is a MOLLE accessory panel area. The only limitation becomes which pouches to apply and where to place them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and refers to the pouches, panels, and straps which are utilized in the MOLLE equipment system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out some of the best MOLLE pouches you can include in your airsoft equipment starting with airsoft gun magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches are available in all colors and camouflage patterns. Common pouch colors consist of: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Common pouch camouflage patterns include: forest, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Take a look at the example swatches below for what they appear like:

Types of Fox Outdoor MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are usually called ‘basic’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ since they are quite basic in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is generally attached with Velcro. In addition to being readily available from many tactical gear companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most affordable ways to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouch types resemble the standard mag pouches with a few enhancements. As the tactical pouch name suggests, this pouch style gets rid of the flap leaving an open top to put in and remove magazines. This allows for quiet access and increased speed while accessing or refilling weapon gear. These mag pouches can be available in triple or single magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the latest and most innovative kind of tactical mag pouches. The retention systems are constructed into the magazine pocket so that it carries the magazine firmly under tension. In order to make mag accessibility simpler and magazine reloads faster than ever before, this design of tactical pouch uses MOLLE accessories so it can be mounted at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest. The pouch parts are typically made from ABS construction.
The Fox Outdoor brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use differing kinds of retention to grip the magazines and offer security including bungee cables or rubberized tension bands (depending upon manufacturer). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and giving it a hard pull up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps securely hold the magazines so you don’t need to worry about losing the mag during fast motions, crawling, climbing over things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
Fox Outdoor MOLLE Airsoft Gun Handgun Magazine Pouches
Handgun magazine pouches come in related designs to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The handgun magazine pouches which can be found in the basic style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a number of basic handgun pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines very well with this long lasting Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention handgun pouches are the most typically used versions of handgun pouches. Many of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the very same design.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired design of pouch featuring both a rifle and pistol magazine. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) cost savings over purchasing all 6 independently (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine recovery pouches) create a space for you to dump empty magazines and other gear into quickly in the field. These tactical pouches are generally held in a rolled up position and secured by a snap or strap. The pouch can be quickly unrolled to expand in size and hold empty clips after you reload your airsoft gun, extra airsoft BBs/shells, and other tactical gear while on the field. Some dump pouches even have drawstring tops for extra closure security while moving with a filled pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft equipment loadout. IFAK stands for individual first aid kit and contains the equipment airsoft players need when they need to patch up a scrape or wound on the field. An emergency treatment pack should include the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze bandages, several sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, trauma shears, tweezers, and Other items.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create a place for carrying a Leatherman, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field items. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else usually. Think of things like spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own separate pouch), and other equipment you may need on the airsoft field or in a tactical circumstance.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Lots of airsoft organizations work with communications and radios equipment on the field. Adopting a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications equipment while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and radio handsets like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
