What is Airsoft

Airsoft is a shooting sport where participants use airsoft guns like rifles, shotguns, and pistols to shoot 6mm plastic BBs. The gameplay can focus on a mixture of mission based conditions and team style games where participants and teams of players contend to win. Airsoft groups can vary in size from a couple of participants to many squads, fireteams, and separate units based on the scale of the field and game player attendance. Large airsoft fields and airsoft tournaments can host hundreds as well as 1000s of players depending on the area of operations (AO).

Airsoft weapons consist of the following weapon types: rifles, handguns, and sniper rifles. The main airsoft weapons used include guns like the AK47 Kalashnikov, Heckler and Koch H&K G36 assault rifle, and Colt M4 Carbine style assault rifles which are reproduced in the form of automatic electric (AEG) airsoft weapons. Sidearms typically include Beretta M9, 1911, or Glock pistols which are used in loadouts as airsoft green gas, GBB, or CO2 airsoft handgun varieties. Sniper rifles commonly are modeled after the Remington 700 bolt action long guns which game players use as spring powered airsoft sniper rifles.

Airsoft participants normally use camouflage patterns during games along with headgear like tactical vests and tactical helmets configured with pouches. Each opposing airsoft team typically wears a particular pattern to help identify hostile and friendly forces.

The targets airsoft guns are shot at can vary depending on game type. A lot of the targets engaged with airsoft weapons are other players during force-on-force fights.

There are different kinds of airsoft games. They consist of attack and defense objectives, point based objectives, and location based-objectives. Particular airsoft game styles are grab the flag, disable the bomb, zombie respawn, deathmatch (free for all), group deathmatch, last team standing, gun games influenced by Counter Strike Global Offensive (CSGO), hostage rescue, and other similar missions. The kinds of airsoft missions are practically endless as game players create more kinds all of the time.

What is Milsim Airsoft

Military simulation airsoft, or milsim, is frequently a big part of airsoft. Many of the airsoft objectives, uniforms, and guns are duplications of real firearms, military outfits, and real-world missions taken from history.

Milsim airsoft guns are based on the period featuring popular weapons during the time of the historical objective. For instance, the M16A1 rifle has the traditional appearance of a Vietnam period assault rifle, while other airsoft rifles like the Heckler & Koch HK416 or IWI TAVOR TAR-21 are much more present day. In precise milsim gameplay, weapons must follow the era, use related scopes, and be correctly modded.

A modern U.S. Navy Seal milsim uniform and loadout might combine a Navy Working Uniform (NWU) camouflage pattern with a London Bridge Trading LBT-6094 Plate Carrier Gen II AOR1 and a ballistic helmet like the Ops-Core FAST SF Super High Cut Helmet. This saves cash because the genuine equipment can cost thousands of dollars and be lighter to use on the airsoft field.

The missions undertaken during military simulation operations include historical reenactments and objectives set as historical fiction. Have you ever wanted to storm the beaches of Normandy, fight for the 38th Parallel, or fight the drug lords of Mogadishu during Blackhawk Down? Milsim integrated with airsoft is one way you can actively participate in and experience military history.
