Airsoft Weapon Mags Information
These mags normally attach to the airsoft gun comparable to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft weapon mags are manufactured in a variety of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These kinds usually relate to AEG mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would keep in shells, which is typically around 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft gamers the most storage with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One thing to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas typically regulate their usage because of players shooting excessive amounts of ammo to spray-and-pray throughout games.
Info on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are typically pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to 1000s of BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Details
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and functional between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags frequently come with builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Handguns mags differ by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the magazine. The magazine is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the standard gun style. Handgun mags are frequently interchangeable between similar designs of the same airsoft gun maker, but are frequently not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically created for that function. Learning about the various styles of airsoft pistols gives you more insight to how their pistol mags differ. A lot of airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
