Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically housed in the weapon’s mag. These mags generally connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The kinds of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are specific to the kind of AEG rifle plus most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how airsoft weapons work. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag insertion area. M4 design AEG mags would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The exact same cross-compatibility would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can hold between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and functional between various submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to function so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the mag. The mag is placed into the pistol’s grip like the basic firearm style. Pistol mags are typically interchangeable between similar models of the exact same airsoft gun manufacturer, but are often not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically designed for that function. Learning about the various types of airsoft sidearms gives you a better understanding of how their magazines differ. Most airsoft handgun magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
