About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The VIPER Stuffa Pouch Coyote is a tactical pouch. Most tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop design accessories. MOLLE straps supply a versatile way for users to select the mounting area and position of the pouch and mount them anywhere on equipment where there is a MOLLE accessory panel area.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and refers to the pouches, panels, and straps which are managed in the MOLLE equipment system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out some of the top MOLLE pouches you can include in your airsoft gear starting with airsoft weapon magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches can be found in all colors and camouflage patterns. Common pouch colors include: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Common pouch camouflage patterns include: forest, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Check out the example swatches in the product description for what they appear like:

Types of VIPER MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
Rifle magazines are necessary to have on your gear for holding M4/AR -15, AK-47, and other kinds of airsoft gun rifle magazines. These are also called ‘standard’ pouches or just ‘mag pouches’ since they are pretty standard in design. They are among the original styles of pouches created to carry extra magazines with you in the field. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for included security that is generally fastened with Velcro. The flap could include a plastic side-release buckle depending upon pouch design. In addition to being available from lots of tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most affordable methods to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouch types are similar to the standard mag pouches with a few enhancements. As the tactical pouch name suggests, this pouch style eliminates the flap leaving an open top to insert and extract magazines. This allows quiet access and increased speed while accessing or refilling gun equipment. These mag pouches can come in triple or single magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the most recent and most innovative type of tactical mag pouches. The retention systems are developed into the magazine pocket so that it carries the magazine firmly under stretchy bungees. In order to make mag accessibility simpler and magazine swaps faster than ever before, this design of tactical pouch makes use of MOLLE accessories so it can be installed at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest. The pouch components are generally made from ABS materials.
The VIPER brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use differing types of retention to grip the magazines and offer security including bungee cords or rubberized tension bands (depending on maker). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and providing a hard pull up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps firmly hold the magazines so you don’t have to be concerned about losing the mag during quick movements, crawling, climbing, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
VIPER MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Handgun Magazine Pouches
Handgun magazine pouches can be found in related designs to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention designs of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which are available in the basic style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a few standard pistol pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines effectively with this long lasting Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention pistol pouches are the most commonly found variations of pistol pouches. A lot of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching pistol magazine pouches in the exact same style.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired design of pouch including both a rifle and handgun magazine. A pair of magazines are generally better than one. This pouch shows this to be true because it saves you cash from needing to purchase two pouches. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over buying all 6 independently (3x rifle and 3x handgun magazines). Never ever purchase pouches individually which you can get them as a group.
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine collection pouches) create a spot for you to place empty mags and other gear into quickly. These tactical pouches are normally carried in a rolled up position and secured by a snap or strap. The pouch can be quickly unrolled to increase in size and hold empty mags after reloads, extra airsoft BBs/shells, and other equipment while on the field. Some dump pouches even have drawstring tops for extra closure security while moving with a full pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK stands for individual first aid kit and includes the equipment airsoft players require when they have to patch up a cut or wound on the field. A first aid kit should include the following items: medical tape or cloth tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze bandages, a number of sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other medical products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create room for holding tools, folded maps, pens, and other field supplies. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which don’t go anywhere else generally. Think spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they don’t have their own separate pouch), and other gear you may require on the airsoft field or tactical situation.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Many airsoft groups manage radios and communications devices on the field. Using a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications equipment while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and family band radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 models and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
