About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The TRU-SPEC Molded Universal Radio Holder, Black, One Size is a tactical pouch. Many tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop style attachments. MOLLE pouches have just recently become popular in the last several years due to tactical innovations and inventions. They are the top option for securing military style pouches to tactical equipment, tactical vests, deployment bags, and other types of military equipment. MOLLE straps provide a flexible way for users to pick the mounting location and position of the pouch and install them anywhere on equipment where there is a MOLLE accessory panel area. The only constraint becomes which pouches to manage and where to put them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and describes the pouches, panels, and straps which are put to use in the MOLLE equipment system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out some of the top MOLLE pouches you can include in your airsoft equipment starting with airsoft weapon magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches come in lots of various colors and camouflage patterns.

The Tru-Spec brand is quite well-known in the world of airsoft. They make outstanding quality airsoft equipment and other products. If you have concerns about their pouches or troubleshooting inquiries, you can find answers on the brand’s business website.
Types of Tru-Spec MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are usually called ‘standard’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ due to the fact that they are quite basic in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is normally attached with Velcro. In addition to being readily available from lots of tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most inexpensive ways to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches resemble the basic mag pouches with a couple of modifications. As the tactical pouch name indicates, this pouch design removes the flap leaving an open top to place and take out magazines. This allows quiet access and increased speed while accessing or swapping gun equipment. These mag pouches can be found in single or triple magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the latest and most innovative type of tactical mag pouches. In order to make mag access simpler and reloads faster than ever before, this design of tactical pouch uses MOLLE attachments so it can be installed at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest.
The Tru-Spec brand also makes retention magazine pouches like the FastMag style use varying types of retention to grip the magazines and offer security including bungee cords or rubberized tension bands (depending upon producer). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and giving it a hard pull up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps securely hold the magazines so you don’t have to think about losing the mag during fast movements, crawling, climbing up things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
Tru-Spec MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Handgun Magazine Pouches
Pistol magazine pouches come in related styles to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which are available in the basic style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a few basic pistol pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines effectively with this durable Velcro flip top style.
The open top and open top with retention handgun pouches are the most commonly seen versions of pistol pouches. Most of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the exact same style. This includes manufacturers like Blue Force Gear, and High Speed Gear. Both of their rifle mag pouch styles are excellent quality, usable, and are replicated by airsoft pouch companies.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired design of pouch including both a rifle and handgun magazine. Two is typically much better than one. This pouch shows this to be true because it saves you cash from having to purchase two pouches. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over purchasing all 6 independently (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines). Never buy pouches individually which you can get them as a group.
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a clip collection pouches) create a spot for you to discard empty magazines and other gear into quickly. These tactical pouches are usually held in a rolled up position and secured by a snap or strap. The pouch can be quickly unrolled to expand in size and hold empty magazines after you reload your airsoft gun, extra airsoft BBs/shells, and other gear while on the battlefield. Some dump pouches even have drawstring tops for extra security while moving with a full pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft equipment loadout. IFAK is an acronym for individual first aid kit and includes the equipment airsoft players need when they have to patch up a gash or injury on the field. An emergency treatment pack needs to include the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze, several sterile gauze pads, antibacterial wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches make a place for carrying tools, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field supplies. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else usually. Think of things like spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own special pouch), and other gear you may need on the airsoft field or in a tactical circumstance.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Attachments
Lots of airsoft units carry radios and communications devices on the field. Running a radio pouch with MOLLE accessories helps you secure your communications gear while moving. These small radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and family band radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 models and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
