About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The Tactical Medical First Aid Pouch – 1000D EMT Molle Utility Pouch Bag Multifunction Nylon Pouch for Hiking Riding Camping Outdoor Sports is a tactical pouch. Many tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop style attachments. MOLLE pouches have just recently become popular in the last few years due to tactical developments and inventions. They are the top choice for securing military design pouches to range gear, vests, deployment bags, and other kinds of military equipment. MOLLE straps offer a unique method for users to select the mounting location and position of the pouch and install them anywhere on equipment where there is a MOLLE accessory panel location. The only limitation becomes which pouches to put to use and where to place them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE is an acronym meaning Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and identifies the pouches, panels, and straps which are used in the MOLLE gear system. Here are the 3 parts of the installing system: MOLLE straps, panels, and pouches. Mounting tactical pouches is simple and quick. Simply thread the straps and snap the buttons to secure them in place. Now that we know what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out some of the best MOLLE pouches you can put on your airsoft gear starting with airsoft weapon mag pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns

Kinds Of TacticalGear MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are usually called ‘basic’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ since they are quite standard in style. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is generally attached with Velcro. In addition to being readily available from many tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are resilient and one of the most economical ways to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches are similar to the basic mag pouches with a couple of adjustments. As the tactical pouch name indicates, this pouch design eliminates the flap leaving an open top to insert and remove magazines.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the latest and most advanced kind of tactical mag pouches. The retention systems are developed into the magazine pocket so that it carries the magazine tightly under stretchy bungees. In order to make mag access easier and reloads faster than ever before, this style of tactical pouch utilizes MOLLE attachments so it can be installed at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest. The pouch elements are generally made from ABS construction.
The TacticalGear brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use varying kinds of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cables or rubberized tension bands (depending upon maker). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and providing a hard yank up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the stress straps firmly hold the magazines so you do not have to think about losing the mag during fast movements, crawling, climbing, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
TacticalGear MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Pistol Magazine Pouches
Pistol magazine pouches are available in similar styles to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which are available in the basic style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a few basic pistol pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines very well with this resilient Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention pistol pouches are the most frequently used versions of pistol pouches. A lot of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching pistol magazine pouches in the very same style.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch including both a rifle and pistol magazine. The cost of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over buying all 6 separately (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a mag retrieval pouches) create a spot for you to dump empty magazines and other gear into quickly in the field. These tactical pouches are typically held in a rolled up position and secured by a button or strap. The pouch can be quickly unrolled to expand in size and hold empty magazines after you reload your airsoft rifle, extra airsoft BBs/shells, and other equipment while in the field. Some dump pouches also have drawstring tops for added security while moving with a pouch that is full.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK is an acronym for individual first aid kit and consists of the equipment airsoft players require when they have to patch up a gash or injury on the field. A first aid pack must include the following items: medical tape or cloth tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled bandages, a number of sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, trauma shears, tweezers, and Other items.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create room for holding a Leatherman, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field supplies. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else generally. You can carry things like spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they don’t have their own specific pouch), and other equipment you may need on the airsoft field or in a tactical circumstance.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Lots of airsoft teams put to use communications and radios devices on the field. Running a radio pouch with MOLLE accessories helps you secure your communications gear while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and family band radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
