About MOLLE Pouches and Equipment
The RioRand 2PCS Tactical Softshell Magazine Pouch 5.56mm 7.62mm Airsoft Hunting Shooting Soft Shell Mag Carrier Bag with Molle Clip/Air Hole is a tactical pouch. Many tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop design attachments. MOLLE straps supply a versatile way for users to pick the mounting place and position of the pouch and mount them anywhere on gear where there is a MOLLE attachment panel location.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and describes the pouches, panels, and straps which are applied in the MOLLE equipment system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s look at some of the best MOLLE pouches you can add to your airsoft gear starting with airsoft weapon magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches come in many various colors and camo patterns.
About the RioRand Brand
The RioRand brand is pretty widely known in the world of airsoft. They create good quality airsoft equipment and other gear. You can find information on the brand’s website if you have concerns about their airsoft gear or customer service questions.
Kinds Of RioRand MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are usually called ‘basic’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ since they are quite standard in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is typically secured with Velcro. In addition to being offered from many tactical gear companies in the airsoft industry, basic rifle magazine pouches are long lasting and one of the most affordable methods to hold magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouch types are similar to the basic mag pouches with a few adjustments. As the tactical pouch name implies, this pouch design removes the flap leaving an open top to put in and extract magazines. This allows for silent access and increased speed while accessing or swapping gun pouches. These mag pouches can be found in single or triple magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the most recent and most innovative type of tactical mag pouches. In order to make mag access easier and clip swaps faster than ever, this design of tactical pouch utilizes MOLLE connections so it can be installed at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest.
The RioRand brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use varying types of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cables or rubberized tension bands (depending upon manufacturer). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and providing a hard yank up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps firmly hold the magazines so you do not have to think about losing the mag during fast movements, crawling, climbing up things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
RioRand MOLLE Airsoft Gun Handgun Magazine Pouches
Handgun magazine pouches come in similar styles to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which are available in the standard style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a couple of standard pistol pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines effectively with this durable Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention pistol pouches are the most frequently used variations of pistol pouches. Many of the same companies which make rifle mag pouches make matching pistol magazine pouches in the same design.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch including both a rifle and handgun magazine. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over purchasing all six independently (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine retrieval pouches) make a spot for you to discard empty magazines and other gear into during gunfights. Some dump pouches also have drawstring tops for additional security while moving on the run with a filled pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK means individual first aid kit and contains the medical gear airsoft players need when they have to patch up a gash or injury on the field. A first aid pack should contain the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze bandages, a number of sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, trauma shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create room for carrying a Leatherman, folded maps, pens, and other field supplies. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which don’t go anywhere else usually. Think extra airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own specific pouch), and other gear you might require on the airsoft field or in a tactical situation.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Many airsoft groups carry communications and radios devices on the field. Applying a radio pouch with MOLLE accessories helps you secure your communications equipment while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and radio handsets like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
