About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The Orca Tactical MOLLE Horizontal Admin Pouch Utility EDC Tool Bag is a tactical pouch. Most tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop style accessories. MOLLE pouches have recently become popular in the last several years due to tactical innovations and inventions. They are the top option for securing military style pouches to gear, tactical vests, deployment bags, and other types of military equipment. MOLLE straps provide a unique method for users to select the mounting place and position of the pouch and install them anywhere on equipment where there is a MOLLE accessory panel area. The only restriction ends up being which pouches to use and where to position them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and refers to the pouches, panels, and straps which are put to use in the MOLLE equipment system. Now that we know what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out some of the leading MOLLE pouches you can put on your airsoft equipment starting with airsoft gun magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches are available in all colors and camo patterns. Common pouch colors consist of: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Typical pouch camouflage patterns consist of: woodland, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Take a look at the example swatches below for what they look like:
About the Orca Tactical Brand
The Orca Tactical brand is fairly highly-rated as a quality gear manufacturer. They make very good quality airsoft pouches and other gear. If you have concerns about their tactical pouches or troubleshooting inquiries, you can find additional information on the brand’s business website.
Kinds Of Orca Tactical MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are also called ‘basic’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ due to the fact that they are quite standard in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is typically fastened with Velcro. In addition to being available from many tactical gear companies in the airsoft industry, basic rifle magazine pouches are long lasting and one of the most budget-friendly ways to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches are comparable to the standard mag pouches with a few modifications. As the tactical pouch name indicates, this pouch design removes the flap leaving an open top to place and remove magazines.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the latest and most sophisticated kind of tactical mag pouches. The retention systems are developed into the magazine pocket so that it carries the magazine tightly under stretchy bungees. In order to make mag accessibility simpler and magazine reloads faster than ever before, this style of tactical pouch makes use of MOLLE attachments so it can be mounted at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest. The pouch parts are usually made from ABS components.
The Orca Tactical brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag style use differing types of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cables or rubberized stress bands (depending on maker). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and using a hard pull up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps firmly hold the magazines so you don’t need to think about losing the mag during quick movements, crawling, climbing over things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
Orca Tactical MOLLE Airsoft Gun Pistol Magazine Pouches
Handgun magazine pouches are available in similar designs to the rifle pouches with standard flip top, open top, and open top with retention designs of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which are available in the basic style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a number of basic pistol pouches which secure airsoft gun magazines very well with this long lasting Velcro flip top style.
The open top and open top with retention handgun pouches are the most typically used versions of handgun pouches. A lot of the same companies which make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the same style.
Combination Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch featuring both a rifle and pistol magazine. Two is generally better than one. This pouch shows this to be correct since it saves you cash from having to purchase two pouches. For instance, the cost of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) cost savings over purchasing all 6 separately (3x rifle and 3x handgun magazines). Never ever purchase pouches separately when you can get them together.
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine retrieval pouches) create a spot for you to ditch empty mags and other gear into during gunfights. Some dump pouches even have drawstring tops for extra security while moving with a filled pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft equipment loadout. IFAK is an acronym meaning individual first aid kit and contains the medical gear airsoft players need when they need to patch up a gash or wound on the field. A first aid pack must include the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze bandages, several sterile gauze pads, antibacterial wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create a place for holding multitools, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field supplies. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else generally. Think of things like extra airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own specific pouch), and other equipment you may need on the airsoft field or in a tactical situation.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Many airsoft organizations carry radios and communications equipment on the field. Applying a radio pouch with MOLLE accessories helps you secure your communications gear while moving. These small radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and family band radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 models and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
