About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The Kosse Tactical Admin Pouch, Versatile Molle Admin Pouch EDC Carry Bag Multi-Purpose Tool Holder for Magazine, Map and Other Small Tools is a tactical pouch. Many tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop style attachments. MOLLE pouches have recently become popular in the last several years due to tactical innovations and inventions. They are the top option for securing military style pouches to range gear, tactical vests, deployment bags, and other kinds of military equipment. MOLLE straps provide a flexible way for users to select the mounting place and position of the pouch and mount them anywhere on gear where there is a MOLLE accessory panel location. The only limitation ends up being which pouches to use and where to place them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE represents Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and defines the pouches, panels, and straps which are applied in the MOLLE gear system. Here are the three parts of the mounting system: MOLLE straps, pouches, and panels. Mounting tactical pouches is fast and simple. Just thread the straps and snap the buttons to secure them in place. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how the gear system works, let’s check out some of the best MOLLE pouches you can add to your airsoft gear starting with airsoft weapon mag pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches are available in all colors and camo patterns. Common pouch colors consist of: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Common pouch camouflage patterns consist of: woodland, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Check out the example swatches below for what they look like:
About the Kosse Brand
The Kosse brand is pretty popular among airsoft players. They manufacture fairly good quality airsoft equipment and other gear. You can find information on the brand’s site if you have concerns about their airsoft pouches or customer service questions.
Kinds Of Kosse MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are also called ‘standard’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ since they are pretty basic in style. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is normally secured with Velcro. In addition to being available from many tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, basic rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most budget friendly ways to hold magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches are similar to the basic mag pouches with a few adjustments. As the tactical pouch name suggests, this pouch style gets rid of the flap leaving an open top to insert and take out magazines.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the newest and most innovative type of tactical mag pouches. In order to make mag accessibility a lot easier and mag swaps faster than before, this design of tactical pouch uses MOLLE connections so it can be mounted at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest.
The Kosse brand also makes retention magazine pouches like the FastMag style use varying types of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cables or rubberized stress bands (depending upon maker). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and using a hard pull up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the stress straps safely hold the magazines so you don’t need to be concerned about losing the mag during quick motions, crawling, climbing over things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
Kosse MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Pistol Magazine Pouches
Handgun magazine pouches come in related styles to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The handgun magazine pouches which come in the standard design have a Velcro flap. Condor makes several standard pistol pouches which secure airsoft gun magazines effectively with this durable Velcro flip top style.
The open top and open top with retention handgun pouches are the most typically chosen variations of handgun pouches. Many of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the very same style. This includes companies like Blue Force Gear, and High Speed Gear. Both of their rifle mag pouch designs are outstanding quality, usable, and are replicated by airsoft pouch companies.
Combination Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch featuring both a rifle and pistol magazine. The cost of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) cost savings over buying all 6 separately (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine recovery pouches) make a spot for you to discard empty mags and other gear into quickly. Some dump pouches also have drawstring closure tops for additional security while moving with a filled pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK is an acronym meaning individual first aid kit and consists of the medical gear airsoft players require when they have to patch up a cut or injury on the field. An emergency treatment kit must contain the following items: medical tape or cloth tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled bandages, several sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other medical products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create a place for carrying a Leatherman, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field gear. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which don’t go anywhere else normally. Think spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own special pouch), and other gear you might need on the airsoft field or in a tactical situation.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Many airsoft units carry radios and communications devices on the field. Applying a radio pouch with MOLLE accessories helps you secure your communications equipment while moving. These small radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
