What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and identifies the pouches, panels, and straps which are managed in the MOLLE gear system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out some of the leading MOLLE pouches you can put on your airsoft gear beginning with airsoft weapon magazine pouches.

Kinds Of IDOGEAR MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are usually called ‘standard’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ since they are quite basic in style. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for extra security that is typically fastened with Velcro. In addition to being available from many tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most budget-friendly ways to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouch types are similar to the basic mag pouches with a couple of enhancements. As the tactical pouch name suggests, this pouch style removes the flap leaving an open top to place and extract magazines. This enables quiet access and increased speed while reloading weapons or accessing pouches. These mag pouches can be available in triple or single magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the most recent and most innovative type of tactical mag pouches. In order to make mag access simpler and mag reloads faster than ever, this design of tactical pouch utilizes MOLLE attachments so it can be mounted at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest.
The IDOGEAR brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use varying types of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cables or rubberized tension bands (depending upon producer). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and providing a hard tug up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps safely hold the magazines so you don’t need to worry about losing the mag during quick motions, crawling, climbing, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
IDOGEAR MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Handgun Magazine Pouches
Pistol magazine pouches are available in related styles to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which can be found in the standard style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a number of standard pistol pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines very well with this resilient Velcro flip top style.
The open top and open top with retention pistol pouches are the most commonly found variations of handgun pouches. A lot of the same companies that make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the exact same style. This includes companies like Blue Force Gear, and High Speed Gear. Both of their rifle mag pouch styles are excellent quality, usable, and are reproduced by airsoft pouch companies.
Combination Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch including both a rifle and pistol magazine. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over purchasing all 6 independently (3x rifle and 3x handgun magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a mag collection pouches) make a space for you to place empty mags and other gear into quickly. These tactical pouches are normally carried on your belt in a rolled up position and secured by a button or strap. The pouch can be quickly unrolled to expand in size and hold empty clips after reloads, extra airsoft BBs/shells, and other tactical gear while on the battlefield. Some dump pouches also have drawstring tops for extra security while moving with a pouch that is full.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK is an acronym for individual first aid kit and consists of the medical gear airsoft players need when they have to patch up a scrape or injury on the field. An emergency treatment kit should contain the following items: medical tape or cloth tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze, a number of sterile gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other medical products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create room for carrying tools, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field items. These pouches are general use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else generally. You can carry things like spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own specific pouch), and other gear you might need on the airsoft field or tactical circumstance.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Lots of airsoft teams employ radios and communications devices on the field. Using a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications gear while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 models and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
