About MOLLE Pouches and Equipment
The HSGI Leo Taco – Covered – MOLLE (Wolf Gray) is a tactical pouch. A lot of tactical pouches attach with MOLLE snap straps and hook-and-loop style attachments. MOLLE straps offer a flexible way for users to choose the mounting location and position of the pouch and mount them anywhere on equipment where there is a MOLLE accessory panel area.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and refers to the pouches, panels, and straps which are applied in the MOLLE gear system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s check out some of the most effective MOLLE pouches you can add to your airsoft equipment beginning with airsoft gun magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches can be found in all colors and camouflage patterns. Typical pouch colors include: black, tan, OD green (olive drab), foliage green (sage), ranger green, and grey. Typical pouch camouflage patterns consist of: woodland, desert, A-TACs, Multicam, ACU (Army Combat Uniform), digital, and others. Take a look at the example swatches below for what they appear like:
About the High Speed Gear Brand
The High Speed Gear brand is pretty popular as a quality brand. They produce good quality airsoft pouches and other gear. If you have concerns about their gear or troubleshooting inquiries, you can find additional information on the brand’s business website.
Kinds Of High Speed Gear MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
Rifle magazines are essential to have on your equipment for holding M4/AR -15, AK-47, and other kinds of airsoft weapon rifle magazines. These are also called ‘standard’ pouches or just ‘mag pouches’ because they are pretty basic in design. They are among the initial designs of pouches designed to carry extra magazines with you in the field. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for included security that is normally secured with Velcro. The flap could include a plastic side-release buckle depending on pouch style. In addition to being available from many tactical gear companies in the airsoft industry, basic rifle magazine pouches are durable and among the most cost effective ways to hold magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches are similar to the basic mag pouches with a few adjustments. As the tactical pouch name implies, this pouch design gets rid of the flap leaving an open top to insert and take out magazines. This allows quiet access and increased speed while reloading guns or accessing pouches. These mag pouches can come in triple or single magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the newest and most innovative kind of tactical mag pouches. The retention systems are constructed into the magazine pocket so that it carries the magazine firmly under pressure. In order to make mag accessibility easier and reloads faster than ever before, this style of tactical pouch uses MOLLE attachments so it can be mounted at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest. The pouch components are usually made from ABS materials.
The High Speed Gear brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use varying kinds of retention to grip the magazines and offer security including bungee cords or rubberized stress bands (depending on manufacturer). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and using a hard tug up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the stress straps firmly hold the magazines so you do not need to worry about losing the mag during quick movements, crawling, climbing over things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
High Speed Gear MOLLE Airsoft Weapon Handgun Magazine Pouches
Handgun magazine pouches are available in similar designs to the rifle pouches with standard flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The handgun magazine pouches which come in the standard design have a Velcro flap. Condor makes several standard handgun pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines very well with this durable Velcro flip top style.
The open top and open top with retention handgun pouches are the most typically used versions of handgun pouches. Many of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching pistol magazine pouches in the exact same style.
Combination Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch including both a rifle and handgun magazine. Two is normally better than one. This pouch proves this to be accurate because it saves you money from needing to purchase a pair of pouches. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equates to about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over purchasing all 6 individually (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines). Never ever buy pouches individually when you can get them grouped.
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine recovery pouches) create a space for you to dump empty mags and other gear into rapidly. Some dump pouches even have drawstring tops for additional security while moving with a filled pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK is an acronym meaning individual first aid kit and includes the medical gear airsoft players require when they have to patch up a scrape or wound on the field. An emergency treatment pack must contain the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled gauze bandages, a number of sterile gauze pads, antibacterial wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create a place for holding a Leatherman, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field items. These pouches are basic use pouches for odds and ends which don’t go anywhere else generally. Think of things like spare airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own specific pouch), and other equipment you may need on the airsoft field or in a tactical circumstance.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Attachments
Many airsoft teams work with radios and communications devices on the field. Operating a radio pouch with MOLLE accessories helps you secure your communications equipment while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and family band radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
