About MOLLE Pouches and Gear
The BLACKHAWK Cross Draw Baton Pouch Mutcam is a tactical pouch. Most tactical pouches connect with MOLLE straps and hook-and-loop design attachments. MOLLE pouches have just recently become popular in the last several years due to tactical innovations and inventions. They are the top choice for securing military style pouches to range gear, airsoft vests, range bags, and other types of equipment. MOLLE straps offer a unique way for users to select the mounting area and position of the pouch and mount them anywhere on gear where there is a MOLLE attachment panel location. The only limitation becomes which pouches to adopt and where to put them.
What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and identifies the pouches, panels, and straps which are managed in the MOLLE gear system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s look at some of the leading MOLLE pouches you can add to your airsoft equipment beginning with airsoft gun magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches come in lots of different colors and camo patterns.
About the BLACKHAWK Brand
The BLACKHAWK brand is pretty well-known as a quality pouch maker. They produce decent quality airsoft equipment and other gear. You can find answers on the brand’s website if you have concerns about their airsoft pouches or client service questions.
Types of BLACKHAWK MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are also called ‘standard’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ because they are quite basic in style. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for added security that is normally secured with Velcro. In addition to being offered from lots of tactical equipment companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most economical ways to carry magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouch types are similar to the basic mag pouches with a couple of modifications. As the tactical pouch name suggests, this pouch style eliminates the flap leaving an open top to place and remove magazines. This allows silent access and increased speed while accessing or refilling gun gear. These mag pouches can be found in triple or single magazine holding setups.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the newest and most advanced type of tactical mag pouches. In order to make mag access a lot easier and reloads faster than ever, this style of tactical pouch utilizes MOLLE connections so it can be mounted at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest.
The BLACKHAWK brand also makes retention magazine pouches like the FastMag design use differing types of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cords or rubberized stress bands (depending on maker). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and providing a hard pull up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps firmly hold the magazines so you don’t have to be concerned about losing the mag during quick motions, crawling, climbing over things, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
BLACKHAWK MOLLE Airsoft Gun Handgun Magazine Pouches
Handgun magazine pouches are available in related designs to the rifle pouches with standard flip top, open top, and open top with retention styles of tactical pouches. The pistol magazine pouches which are available in the standard style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes several basic pistol pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines effectively with this resilient Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention pistol pouches are the most commonly found variations of pistol pouches. A lot of the same companies which make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the very same style.
Combination Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch including both a rifle and handgun magazine. Two is typically far better than one. This pouch proves this to be accurate considering that it saves you cash from having to purchase two separate pouches. The cost of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equals about a seventy-five percent (75%) cost savings over purchasing all six independently (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines). Never purchase pouches separately when you can get them as a group.
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a clip recovery pouches) make a space for you to throw empty mags and other gear into quickly during battle. These tactical pouches are typically carried on tactical belts in a rolled up position and secured by a button or strap. The pouch can be quickly unrolled to increase in size and hold empty clips after reloads, extra airsoft BBs/shells, and other gear while in the field. Some dump pouches even have drawstring tops for added closure security while moving with a full pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft equipment loadout. IFAK represents individual first aid kit and includes the equipment airsoft players need when they have to patch up a scrape or wound on the field. A first aid kit needs to include the following items: medical tape or cloth tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled bandages, a number of sterile gauze pads, antibacterial wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, cutting shears, tweezers, and Other medical products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches make room for holding tools, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field gear. These pouches are basic use pouches for odds and ends which do not go anywhere else normally. You can carry things like extra airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own special pouch), and other equipment you might need on the airsoft field or in a tactical scenario.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Lots of airsoft units put to use communications and radios devices on the field. Operating a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications equipment while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and family band radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 models and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
