Airsoft Gun Magazines
These mags generally connect to the airsoft gun comparable to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Info on Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are usually packed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Details About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle plus all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how airsoft weapons work. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s magazine insertion area. For example M4 design AEG mags would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The exact same cross-compatibility would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can hold between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Info on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and usable in between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own customized design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the magazines typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
When compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs, Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less flexible. Pistols mags vary by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the magazine. The magazine is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard firearm design. Pistol mags are frequently interchangeable between similar models of the very same airsoft weapon producer, but are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically developed for that purpose. Understanding the specific styles and types of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their mags work. The majority of airsoft handgun magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
