What is MOLLE?
MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment and refers to the pouches, panels, and straps which are utilized in the MOLLE gear system. Now that we understand what MOLLE is and how it works, let’s look at some of the best MOLLE pouches you can add to your airsoft equipment starting with airsoft gun magazine pouches.
Colors of MOLLE Pouches and Camouflage Patterns
MOLLE tactical pouches come in many various colors and camo patterns.
About the Amabilis Brand
The Amabilis brand is fairly widely known as a quality pouch manufacturer. They make decent quality airsoft equipment and other products. You can find information on the brand’s website if you have questions about their airsoft gear or client service questions.
Kinds Of Amabilis MOLLE Pouches
Standard Rifle Magazine Pouches
These are also called ‘standard’ pouches or simply ‘mag pouches’ since they are quite basic in design. The magazines are secured inside the pouch with a top flap for extra security that is generally fastened with Velcro. In addition to being available from lots of tactical gear companies in the airsoft industry, standard rifle magazine pouches are durable and one of the most economical ways to hold magazines.
Tactical Open Top Magazine Pouches
Open top magazine pouches are similar to the standard mag pouches with a few alterations. As the tactical pouch name implies, this pouch design removes the flap leaving an open top to place and remove magazines.
Open Top MOLLE Magazine Pouches with Retention
Open top magazine pouches with retention systems are the latest and most advanced kind of tactical mag pouches. The retention systems are constructed into the magazine pocket so that it carries the magazine securely under tension. In order to make mag access simpler and magazine swaps faster than ever before, this style of tactical pouch makes use of MOLLE accessories so it can be installed at any angle on a MOLLE tactical vest. The pouch elements are normally made from ABS construction.
The Amabilis brand also makes retention mag pouches like the FastMag design use varying kinds of retention to grip the magazines and provide security including bungee cables or rubberized tension bands (depending upon producer). Magazines are quickly reloadable by indexing the magazine and providing a hard tug up out of the pouch. While kept in the holder, the tension straps firmly hold the magazines so you don’t have to be concerned about losing the mag during quick motions, crawling, climbing, or maneuvers in training or on the airsoft field.
Amabilis MOLLE Airsoft Gun Handgun Magazine Pouches
Pistol magazine pouches can be found in related designs to the rifle pouches with basic flip top, open top, and open top with retention designs of tactical pouches. The handgun magazine pouches which are available in the basic style have a Velcro flap. Condor makes a number of standard handgun pouches which secure airsoft weapon magazines very well with this durable Velcro flip top design.
The open top and open top with retention handgun pouches are the most commonly found versions of pistol pouches. Many of the same manufacturers which make rifle mag pouches make matching handgun magazine pouches in the exact same design.
Combo Magazine Tactical Pouches Kangaroo, Stacker, and Hybrid
Kangaroo tactical pouches are a paired style of pouch including both a rifle and pistol magazine. The expense of one triple mag kangaroo pouch equates to about a seventy-five percent (75%) savings over purchasing all six individually (3x rifle and 3x pistol magazines).
Tactical Dump Pouches
Dump pouches (a.k.a magazine retrieval pouches) create a space for you to dump empty magazines and other gear into rapidly. Some dump pouches even have drawstring closure tops for extra security while moving on the run with a filled pouch.
Tactical IFAK Medical MOLLE Pouches
Medical pouches are a must have for an airsoft gear loadout. IFAK represents individual first aid kit and includes the equipment airsoft players need when they need to patch up a cut or injury on the field. An emergency treatment kit should contain the following items: medical tape or fabric tape, Band-Aids or adhesive bandages, Ibuprofen or Aspirin, rolled bandages, several sterile gauze pads, antibacterial wipes, folding CPR mask or breath barrier, non-latex gloves, trauma shears, tweezers, and Other products.
MOLLE Admin Pouches
Admin pouches create space for holding multitools, folded maps, pens, compasses, and other field supplies. These pouches are basic use pouches for odds and ends which don’t go anywhere else normally. You can carry things like extra airsoft BB bags, red dead rags, multitools (if they do not have their own separate pouch), and other equipment you might require on the airsoft field or tactical situation.
Tactical Radio Pouches with MOLLE Accessories
Lots of airsoft teams talk on radios and communications devices in the field. Applying a radio pouch with MOLLE attachments helps you secure your communications equipment while moving. These little radio pouches will hold most walkie-talkies and radios like the Motorola TALKABOUT T800 series and Baofeng UV-5R VHR radios.
